Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Taper Point, Size 2/0, 27", with UR-5 needle is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture made from purified collagen derived from natural sources. The suture is treated with chromic salts to prolong absorption time and reduce tissue reaction. Its natural composition allows for gradual absorption by enzymatic degradation and hydrolysis, making it suitable for temporary wound support. 

The taper point needle is designed for smooth penetration and minimal tissue trauma. Its rounded, atraumatic tip separates tissue fibers without cutting, which is beneficial in delicate tissues such as mucosa, subcutaneous layers, and vascular structures. The UR-5 needle’s curvature facilitates easy maneuvering through tissue planes, ensuring precise placement and effective wound closure.

This suture maintains tensile strength for approximately 10 to 14 days, providing reliable support during early wound healing phases. Complete absorption generally occurs within 70 days, eliminating the need for suture removal and reducing the risk of long-term foreign body response.
